I have always found something compelling about the relationship between Orthodox Christians and their patrons. Quite often it is a quiet sense of connection, although often we only see the outward signs of it on the Sunday of Orthodoxy. Along that line, I found this series of photographs to be very revealing. Simple black and white photos of women of all ages and backgrounds holding the icon of their particular saint. Some are self-conscious, but most of them are studies of understated confidence and love. Here at mid-Lent, these are well worth a look.

Father, bless,
I have the distinct pleasure of reading the blog of the phototographer, and the series is more and more gorgeous as it goes along.
Hi Mimi
I would be interested in reading her blog — I stumbled across the link to the Flickr album through an e-mail. Would you mind posting a link to it?

yes, I love this website. actually, the picture of frederica mathewes-green is the one we used for the promotional poster for our women’s retreat (she was the speaker, obviously…)
I love how the photographer has captured something about each woman. they’re captivating, no?
These are beautiful– thanks for sharing them!
Thank you so very much for the link, Seraphim! I appreciate your interest and am flattered by your praise!
